Dave Allen has lost interest in the Tyson Fury versus Anthony Joshua fight.
The long-time rivals are set to finally face each in New York City later this year – but Allen, who has sparred with both men in the past, thinks the fight has lost its spark.
Asked about the showdown on talkSPORT Breakfast, Allen explained: “I don’t care about the fight at all. I’m past caring with it.
“Everything about it, I’m a bit sick of it. Just get in the ring and then I’ll be excited when they are opposite each other.
“For one, it should have happened six or seven years ago, two it might be going to America.
“Three, Joshua got put over in his warm-up fight [against Prenga] and Fury didn’t look great.
“I’m not really bothered anymore.”
Allen observed that a prospective bout between Moses Itauma and Daniel Dubois is now much more appetising.
The heavyweight said: “I’d rather watch Moses Itauma vs Daniel Dubois.
“That is a much better boxing contest, it’s an exciting fight. Joshua vs Fury isn’t about who is the best British heavyweight anymore.
“So as a boxing man, I’m more excited for that and I don’t really care anymore.”
Meanwhile, Frank Warren previously claimed that Joshua is “vulnerable”.
The Hall of Fame promoter witnessed Dubois, another of his fighters, defeat Joshua at Wembley Stadium in 2024, and Warren is convinced that Fury, the former heavyweight champion, will simply have too much for Joshua in their upcoming clash.
Speaking to SecondsOut, Warren said: “He’s got that spectre and that cloud over him of what happened to him when he fought against Daniel Dubois. You know he is vulnerable if he gets caught now. Tyson will stop him.
“Did you see him fight Daniel Dubois? I was confident Dubois would do that and he did. I’m confident Tyson will do the same thing. If he catches him, he will go.”
