Ben Shalom would love to see a fight between Kell Brook and Chris Eubank Jr.
Brook, 40, recently announced plans to make a return to the ring, four years after his legacy-sealing win against Amir Khan, and Shalom, one of the top promoters in the UK, has now revealed that he’d love to see Brook face Eubank Jr.
Speaking to talkBOXING, Shalom said: “That fight isn’t definitely confirmed by any stretch yet anyway. But I’m all for the Brook vs Eubanks and the AJ vs Fury, they still have a place.
“They aren’t pretending they are world champions or creating belts, the elite of the elite operate within the sport.
“The big names still have a place in the sporting ecosystem in this country.
“There’s certain fights, this isn’t definitely happening, but it is a 50/50 fight, no-one can call it.”
Former fighter Spencer Oliver thinks it’s an obvious fight to make, too.
He said: “We know that Chris Eubank Jr was past his best and Kell Brook has been out of the ring for four years.
“He’s had his problems out of the ring, but is now with Ebanie Bridges, had a baby and he’s back on track.
“A lot of money comes up and why wouldn’t he take this fight with Chris Eubank Jr?
“We know it’s not a world title fight, but it’s a fight between two big commercial values.”
Brook announced his unexpected return to the ring earlier this month.
The former world champion revealed he was plotting a comeback after a four-year absence, though he refused to name any prospective opponents.
Brook – who was one of the biggest names in British boxing during his heyday – told talkSPORT: “I’m telling you something here and now, some massive news is about to drop. I’m coming back, there is big news of a massive fight coming your way.
“Back in the professional ring, British Boxing Board of Control, coming out of retirement.”
