Cristiano Ronaldo could reportedly leave Al Nassr and return to Europe.
According to the Daily Mail newspaper, the 41-year-old superstar is becoming increasingly unhappy at the Saudi Pro club, and is considering exiting Al Nassr this summer to either return to Europe or join the U.S.’s Major League Soccer (MLS).
The outlet claims Ronaldo is frustrated by how Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) is handling Al Nassr’s finances, particularly when compared to other clubs in the Saudi Pro League.
Ronaldo reportedly has a €50 million (£43 million) release clause, and has 18 months left on his two-year deal he signed last summer.
The forward – who left Manchester United for Al Nassr in 2022 – has reportedly been refusing to play for the club due to his irritation with PIF and its lack of transfer moves at the club.
Seemingly as a result of this frustration, Ronaldo was absent from Monday’s (02.02.26) game against Al-Riyadh, and is said to be looking to extend his strike at Al Nassr.
The Daily Mirror reports club bosses will continue to speak with Ronaldo, but he has “made it clear” he will ask to leave the club in June if he does not receive the “necesary promises”.
Ronaldo is reportedly focused on winning the Saudi Pro League, having been left without silverware in the Middle East since moving to Al Nassr.
Despite his supposed growing frustration in the Saudi Pro league, Ronaldo returned to training at Al Nassr on Wednesday (04.02.26), and senior Saudi officials are reportedly expecting him to end his strike.
The foward is now expected to play for Al Nassr in the club’s game with Al Ittihad on Friday (06.02.26), but his return has not been confirmed.
Ronaldo – who is reportedly paid £500,000 a day – is contractually obliged to play for Al Nassr unless he is injured.
Officials are said to be surprised Ronaldo is unhappy at Al Nassr, given his high wages.
Al Nassr’s match against Al Ittihad is considered a crucial one for the club, as a victory would put the team at the top of the table.
