Carlos Alcaraz is targeting more success after securing the career Grand Slam at the Australian Open.

The Spanish tennis ace completed a clean sweep of majors with his triumph in Melbourne and is now determined to win other prestigious tournaments for the first time.

Alcaraz, who has now won seven major titles, said: “There are some tournaments that I really wanted to win at least once. I just really wanted to complete all the Masters 1000. Obviously, the ATP Finals and the Davis Cup.

“I really want to achieve that for my country, for Spain.”

Alcaraz has the chance to become just the second man – after Australian legend Rod Laver – to achieve the calender Slam by winning all four majors in a single year but he insists that it will be a “big challenge” to do so.

The world number one said: “It’s going to be a big challenge. Those are big words, to be honest. I just want it to be one at a time. Right now next one is French Open. I have great memories in that tournament. I feel really special every time I go there. I don’t want to put myself in a really pressured position to have to do it, but it’s going to be great. Right now I will try to be ready, to work hard, to just recover and practise well to play a good tournament in the next Grand Slam.”

Former British tennis star Tim Henman believes that Alcaraz will emulate the legendary trio of Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer by winning 20 Grand Slam titles.

He told TNT Sports: “Now we’re speculating that Alcaraz will win 20 Grand Slam tournaments, and will [Jannik] Sinner do the same? Is it unfair to speculate? I don’t think so. Is it unrealistic? I don’t think so.”
