Shakur Stevenson and Conor Benn have clashed over a potential fight in tense scenes.
The 28-year-old US boxer beat Teofimo Lopez at Madison Square Garden in New York City over the weekend to become a four-weight world champion, and he soon turned his eyes to British star Benn.
During his post fight interview, he said: “There’s a fighter in here right now, and he motivated me tonight too.
“Where’s Conor Benn? Hey, Conor Benn, we can get it banging boy! I want that same rehydration course that you put on Eubank Jr and I want a fight!”
Benn, 29, got in the ring, calling his rival “tiny” while Stevenson insisted his “skills are too much” as they started to shout over each other.
The Brit insisted the champ “can’t punch”, adding: “You can’t keep me off you! I’ll put you down!”
Stevenson said: “Sign the contract! Let’s make it happen!”
Benn insisted they “can do it next”, firing back: “Come up to welterweight with the big dogs. You’re a small, little man…
“You think I’m scared of you? I’m not scared of you.”
Stevenson suggested he is open to moving up in weight to 147lbs to make it happen.
For Benn’s fight with Eubank, they both degreed to a rehydration clause which prohibited either man gaining more than 10lbs between the weight-in and the first the next morning.
Stevenson has said: “I am a businessman at the end of the day and he did a rehydration clause with Chris Eubank, who was in the ring half-dead. Why can’t he do the same thing?”
Elsewhere at the fight, Benn got into an altercation with US rival Rolly Romero, who was also there to watch the WBO title clash.
Romero got a bit too close to Benn’s seat at ringside, and they were seen firing insults back and forth before promoter Eddie Hearn and security separated them.
