Karen Carney can tell a player who played under Sir Alex Ferguson “a mile off”.
The former Lionesses star praised the values the legendary Manchester United manager encouraged in his sides and admitted they are always people she enjoys working with in broadcasting.
She told FourFourTwo magazine: “I’ve worked a lot with his former players in the media and they’re some of the most hard-working, considerate colleagues.
“You can tell his former players a mile off. What a man.”
Karen is “fascinated” by Alex and would love to have a meeting with him.
She said: “He’s just a legend. When I was growing up, women’s football wasn’t as accessible as it is today, so I mostly watched the men’s game.
“That era of Manchester United and Arsenal’s great rivalry was peak football.
“Sir Alex’s ability to build and rebuild his teams around a core of academy players and the recruits he brought in was so impressive.
“The stories about his leadership, motivation and all the rest are fascinating. I’d love to sit down with him.
“You could ask a million questions and never get bored.
“I met him once and e had a long chat about women’s football. He knew so much, which I hadn’t expected, but it just shows how much love he has for the game.”
