Lucas Digne is returning to Paris St-Germain after more than a decade.
The 33-year-old full back joined the current European champions back in 2013, making 30 appearances before joining Roma on loan in 2015, and signing for Barcelona the following season.
He made the move to Everton in 2018, and joined Aston Villa in 2022, going onto win the Europa League.
Now, PSG have activated his £8.5 million release clause, and the France international is excited to return.
He said: “I am very honoured to be returning to Paris St-Germain following the wonderful experience I had here more than 10 years ago.
“I am particularly impressed by how the club has developed over the years.”
Digne, who has penned a three-year deal with the club, will provide competition for first-choice left back Nuno Mendes.
PSG are on a high after winning back-to-back Champions League Titles, having beaten Arsenal on penalties at the end of last season.
Digne is the latest high profile player to leave Aston Villa before the new season.
Midfielders Morgan Rogers and Youri Tielemans have both decided to move on, joining Chelsea and Manchester United respectively.
However, they have strengthened the squad with some strong signings, including attacking midfielder Johan Manzambi and defender Modou Kéba Cissé, both 20, and former Wolves midfielder João Gomes, 25.
The club also reached a loan deal to bring Chelsea winger Alejandro Garnacho to the club for the upcoming campaign, although the transfer could will “become permanent next summer should certain criteria be met”.
Villa boss Unai Emery said last month: “He is so talented, young and he showed us his wish to help our project. We are really happy.”
The club will be hoping to build on last season’s success, which saw them claim their first piece of major silverware since 1996 when they captured the Europa League.
In the Premier League, they finished in fourth place, six points behind Manchester United, and five ahead of Liverpool.
