Tim Tszyu is ready for the “constant pressure” he will face from Errol Spence Jr..
The 31-year-old boxer will face the former undisputed welterweight champion in the ring in his native Australia later this month, and while there are question marks around his opponent’s abilities following three years of inactivity, Tim knows it won’t be an easy bout.
He told Boxing News magazine: “He’s still got that dog in him.
“He’s fought some great fighters and he’s dominated everyone that he’s fought. You can’t take that away from hm. Has his time passed? We shall see.
“His pressure, his consistent punching – he does look very good and he doesn’t let you breathe.
“He doesn’t have a quick punch or a three-punch combo and moves, and that explosiveness, but he’s got that constant pressure that sort of drowns you.
“He’s very good at what he does. He doesn’t really show too much, of weaknesses. But he’s there to be hit.”
Both men are working with different trainers, and while Tim noted it is important to try new things, he isn’t expecting his opponent to be “reinvented”.
He said: “I understand where he’d be coming from. When you’re doing the same stuff over and over again, you wanna do something different, something new.
“You get different faces. Sometimes you need little changes in your career to evolve. He’s not going to be reinvented. He’s still going to be same old.
“In an eight week training camp, it’s hard to change things around.”
