Bubba Watson credits “creativity” for his success at The Masters.
The American golfer triumphed at Augusta in both 2012 and 2014 and thinks that his imaginative shot-making has been instrumental to mastering the iconic Georgia course.
Watson told bunkered magazine: “I think the beauty of The Masters is the creativity.
“You can come with some creativity. You miss the ball on one side of the green, but you can come off a slope or whatever when you’re chipping. So, the ball can get close to the hole.
“I think that’s where my mind can see shots and try to pull shots off that normally you can’t do because you’re chipping out.”
Watson won both of his Green Jackets over a decade ago but confessed that he still finds it hard to believe that he has a place in Augusta’s champions’ locker room alongside some of the most celebrated names in golf.
The former world number two said: “There’s a select few in there that have lots of talent, that have won lots of majors, lots of tournaments.
“But some of us, we talk about how we don’t even know why we’re in this room. It’s just crazy to think about the history that’s in that room and we’re a part of that.
“I’ve won it twice. Some of those guys have only won it once. And they’re like, ‘I don’t even know why I’m in this room, this is amazing.’ So, it’s an honour. It doesn’t matter what level you’re at.”
