Tyson Fury and Fabio Wardley are both open to a huge fight in 2026.
The former world champion hasn’t fought since losing to Oleksandr Usyk in December 2024, but he’s ready to come out of “retirement” with his return bout expected in April.
Wardley has made it clear he is “extremely keen” to face Fury, who has now responded on X: “Let’s see how I am looking in my return fight, then later in 2026 this [Wardley] would be a good option for me to try become 3 x heavyweight champion.
“@fabiowardley has a hard fight himself coming up soon.”
After the social media post, Wardley replied and reiterated his desire before suggesting a summer date.
He wrote: “All the best for the return big GK! See you soon. Wardley vs Fury. Summer 2026.”
Fans had been hoping Fury would face Anthony Joshua, but the latter’s situation is still unclear after he was the passenger in a car crash which killed two of his close friends.
In his post over the weekend, Fury said: “I know the fight you guys all want but, at this time, I won’t say his name out of respect, as he is in mourning.
“But if he is not going to continue in boxing, I’d like Big Fab as a big test. This would be a massive spectacle!”
Wardley, 31, scored an upset victory against Joseph Parker in October 2025 to become WBO interim champion.
He was elevated to full champion after Usyk vacated the gold, and he’s expected to make his first defence in April.
