Izzy Christiansen thinks Lucy Bronze will inspire people to have a “better life”.
The Sky Sports pundit praised her former teammate as a great role model and thinks she has a lot of qualities which youngsters would do well to emulate.
She told FourFourTwo magazine: “Lucy is a friend – we go way back to England under-15s, and we also played together at Everton and Manchester City.
“In the modern world, where we need role models who present good characteristics for young people, Lucy is one of them – so resilient, hard-working, determined and talented.
“If you’re a kid wanting to play sport, you’d think, ‘Look at what she’s achieved and how she’s done it.’
“So many people are inspired by Lucy and will have a better life because of the characteristics she displays on a world stage.”
Izzy can’t see Lucy moving into management when she hangs up her boots, but thinks she’ll still have a key role to play in their sport.
She said: “Will she be a manager one day? I’ve never asked her but while she has got the presence and authority to go into management, my gut feeling is she won’t do.
“I think she will possibly be an assistant coach or something within a governing body or organisation, such as FIFA or UEFA, working with them on a consultancy basis, driving change.
“When she speaks, people listen.”
