Tyson Fury wants a trilogy fight with Oleksandr Usyk, his promoter Frank Warren has said.

After his second loss to The Cat, 39, sent him into retirement in December 2024, The Gypsy King, 37, will be returning to the ring in April at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to face Arslanbek Makhmudov, 36, and as Fury prepares for The Lion, Warren has reavealed the former heavyweight champion is still targeting Usyk for another bout.

During an interview with Sky Sports, the Queensberry head said: “He wants to be the best. That’s how he’s always been. He’s told me he wants to fight Usyk again.

“Tyson’s a fighting man. He loves it. He goes in the gym and when he gets down to serious training, he wants to see an end result and the end result for him is fighting.

“For me, he doesn’t need to fight. He’s cemented his legacy. But he is fighting on and he’s going to be a great addition to the heavyweight scene. He’s a great personality. The crowds come out for him, this is a big, big moment for his career.

“If he is going to come back, I’d much rather he do it now than in four or five years’ time when his powers will probably be diminished then.”

As well as Usyk, Fury will have other opportunities to take earn a belt from WBO heavyweight champion Fabio Wardley, 31 – who is in talks to face Daniel Dubois, 28, in May – or from the victor of Moses Ituama vs Jermaine Franklin.

Warren said: “That’s a good fight. Fabio’s boxing at the end of April, early May. We’ll be announcing who he’s fighting.

“This heavyweight division is on fire. It’s on fire, there are some great fights there. Moses is out on March 28 against the American, Jermaine Franklin. That’s a big, big fight. He’s looking to be the next big thing.”

Even so, Warren admitted Fury’s clash with Makhmudov would not be easy.

“It’s a tough, tough comeback fight for me. He’s jumped straight back in.

“He’s been out of the ring, by the time this fight comes around, nearly two years. He’s made it very clear that this year he wants to fight and wants big fights. And this is a guy that’s a big guy, got a good knockout ratio.

“This is a tough comeback fight for him. But if he comes through this we’ll see where we go.”
