Travis Kelce has hinted at prolonging his NFL career by another season.

The 36-year-old sports star – who is engaged to Taylor Swift – has hinted that he’s likely to return for another season with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Discussing teammate Patrick Mahomes’ season-ending injury, Travis said on the New Heights podcast: “You know, hopefully, the Chiefs can get him back as soon as possible.

“I know right now it’s kind of right around that week one or the beginning of the season next year. I know he’s gonna be doing everything he can to get back back out on that field for the Chiefs as soon as possible.”

Jason Kelce, Travis’ older brother, believes the Chiefs could be a much stronger force next season, after missing out on the upcoming Super Bowl.

Jason – who announced his own retirement from the NFL in 2024 – said: “The other thing I always think about whenever I played in games like this or seasons that have gone south, you know, even in the years where everything doesn’t work out, you still have a team. You’re still close with guys.

“I always thought similar to what you’re saying, Trav. Like, we only got three weeks left of this year’s team to play football. Like next year, it’s gonna look different. Right? Guys are gonna be back. Guys aren’t gonna be back.”

Earlier this year, Travis insisted that he still has “a lot more to prove” in the NFL.

The sports star briefly contemplated retirement after losing the 2025 Super Bowl, but Travis still felt motivated and ambitious.

He told reporters: “It wasn’t a very tough [decision] for me.

“I know I’m getting older, but at the same time I still feel like I got a lot that I can prove in this league. It really wasn’t that hard of a decision for me.”

Travis felt hurt after losing the Super Bowl earlier this year, but his passion for the sport remained as strong as ever.

He said: “I love football. I don’t think I really thought about it that much. My friends and family and the team and the guys and women in this building, I love coming into work every single day.”
