Taniela Tupou has sought help from a psychologist about his performances.
The 29-year-old rugby star had a difficult year on the field in Sydney and has signed with Racing 92 in Paris, France, and is hoping he will get back to his best soon.
He told Rugby World magazine: “I’m speaking to a psychologist and getting help.
“I realised there was no way I could deal with this myself and try to hide it.
“It was showing with my performances. So I reached out for help and I am talking to people at the moment.
“We are getting there. There is still a lot of work to do before that smile is back.
“Hopefully it will be one day soon. It has been tough.”
Tupou hopes to find the joy in playing his sport again too.
He said: “You see a different man. You see happiness, you see smiling, you see joking around.
“There would be no point in me doing that now because I would be faking it.”
