Suzann Pettersen “ticked off every box” in her career – apart from one.
The Norwegian golfer would have liked to have been world number one at some point but she enjoyed so much success over the years, she ultimately isn’t too disappointed.
She told Today’s Golfer magazine: “I ticked off every box in my career apart from one – I never quite managed to become world number one.
“Can I live without that? Yes I can. I’m more than happy with what I achieved, and I’m very thankful for what golf has given me.”
And Suzann always learned from her mistakes over the years.
She said: “Losing was one of the highlights of my career. I learned so much from not getting over the line.”
Ultimately, she couldn’t feel happier with her life because she got to live her dreams.
She said: “When I look back on my career, I feel I’ve been very fortunate to have lived my childhood dream.
“I look at it as kind of being in a bubble, and you might as well enjoy that bubble because it’s not real life.
“Being a professional athlete 24/7 is a dream, and I got to pursue those dreams every single day.
“It’s all about yourself. It’s about driving your own ego. But I really enjoyed the process, the practice and the grind, though with that comes a lot of frustration and sleepless nights.”
