Sean Dyche would consider managing abroad.

The Nottingham Forest career has spent his entire coaching career in English football but believes that moving overseas wouldn’t be such a big challenge because English is spoken universally.

Dyche told FourFourTwo magazine: “I would be interested if the right job came up and it was the right fit for them and for me.

“The helpful thing is you can move about without having a second language. Over the last 25 years, players from everywhere can speak good English. I think that’s because players from abroad see themselves one day playing in the Premier League and they learn at an early age.

“That makes things easier for the likes of me. The days of working with a translator are going.”

Dyche was sacked as manager of Burnley after almost 10 years in charge in 2022 – with the club suffering relegation from the Premier League later that season – and feels that a lack of investment in the squad cost him his job.

Asked if he deserved the sack, the coach said: “Results-wise, yes. I thought we should be getting better results, but if you look at the bigger picture, you think, ‘What were your resources?’

“Look at the squad. I knew some of the players were just going over the edge and we should have refreshed two years earlier.

“The owner was trying to sell the club though, so there was no investment in players. We spent £750,000 one summer – you can’t compete on that sort of money.”

However, Dyche quickly got over his sacking at Turf Moor.

He said: “Oh, I don’t lick any wounds – there’s too much to do. I promised my son we’d go for a pint or two, and promised mates that I’d go and see a few bands.

“I’d been at Burnley for over nine years. I had a great time and did a lot of good work, so I wasn’t going to start crying about it.”
