Oliver Wilson doesn’t feel he has achieved “anywhere near” what he should have done.

The 44-year-old golfer – who failed to regain his tour card in 2016 and considered quitting the sport after missing out on his 2018 European tour card – is proud of the way he’s fought back and shown resilience, but still has a desire to win tournaments.

He told Golf Monthly magazine: “You learn so much from playing professional golf.

“But one thing that has come out of it is that I know I am resilient, that I work hard… and I know what my positive traits are.

“But I do feel that I have not achieved anywhere near what I should have achieved, and so the desire is still there.”

Oliver believes he is playing better than he has ever been when he is on form.

He said: “My good golf is better than it has ever been, and I really mean that, so I believe yes it is [good enough to win on tour].

“But I am a different person now, so it is just understanding that I can still play golf with a slightly different attitude and different priorities, I guess.

“Family life puts things in perspective and can actually help.

“Now I have two boys and it is lovely for the kids to see me play well and that is a motivator for me – to play well in front of them.”
