Michael Carrick has implored his Manchester United players not to underestimate Fulham.
The United boss will aim for his third straight win against the Cottagers in the Premier League on Sunday (01.02.26) and has called for his players to approach the match in the same way as the recent wins over Manchester City and Arsenal.
Asked about United’s previous struggles in these types of games, Carrick said: “I don’t think the past is too relevant in that respect. We understand it and what has worked before and what hasn’t but really I think the boys are in a good place going into the game.
“Tough game, tough challenge, I think Marco [Silva] has got Fulham into a really good team. It’s Fulham, just because we are at home, taking anything for granted is bang out of order.”
United have had less possession in both of Carrick’s matches so far and he is prepared for the same thing to happen again if it is what it takes to get another three points.
The interim boss said: “It might be a case it’s the same flow of the game as the last two weeks. No shame in that, we will deal with the game in front of us and do whatever it takes to come out on top.”
Carrick also suggested that the Red Devils could still add to their squad before the transfer window shuts on Monday (02.02.26).
He said: “Never say never. A lot can happen and situations can be thrown up.
“Sometimes it is in our control, sometimes not. I am pretty calm. We have shown what we are capable of as a team.”
