Louis Oosthuizen owns hundreds of golf clubs.
The 43-year-old golfer admitted he has “stopped counting” his equipment because he has so much, and he doesn’t like to give away his irons because of the sentimental attachment he has to them.
Asked how many clubs he has, he told Today’s Golfer magazine: “I stopped counting a long time ago. I’ve got about 120 putters from over the years and I keep them in my little putting studio.
“Sets of irons, I’ve got quite a few.
“I don’t like to just give irons away because every one of them has a story.”
But Louis admitted he once deliberately smashed a club in a fit of rage.
He said: “I broke one way back, 2004 or 2005, playing the European Tour.
“And that wasn’t even on the golf course, it was at home.
“I had a 5-wood I didn’t really like and I was hitting bad shots with it.
“I walked out into the garden and snapped it into four pieces.
“I was an angry person back then.”
The South African golfer owns a farm and admitted his “most extravagant” purchase he’s ever made was a tractor – and the vehicle gave him a brush with death.
He explained: “I was one on an open station tractor and the brakes failed on me so I was heading downhill in reverse.
“That was quite frightening because I was heading towards lots of implements.
“Somehow I missed them all and just went into a field.”
