Lando Norris is not getting ahead of himself after taking the F1 world championship lead.
The British racer dominated Sunday’s (26.10.25) Mexico City Grand Prix to overtake McLaren team-mate Oscar Piastri at the top of the drivers’ standings, but is keeping calm heading into the remaining four races of the season.
Norris – who has just a one-point advantage over Piastri – said: “It’s one weekend at a time. I’m happy, I’m focused on myself, I keep my head down, I ignore all of this [noise] and I keep to myself. It’s working at the minute, so I’m happy.”
The racer finished 30 seconds in front of second-placed Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc and was delighted to have such a “straightforward” ride to his 10th Grand Prix victory.
Norris said: “What a race. I could just keep my eyes focused, I could just keep eyes forward and just focus on what I was doing.
“A pretty straightforward race for me, which is just what I was after. Good start, good launch, good first lap and I could go from there.”
Norris felt that his win was built on the good start he made to the race as he saw off threats from behind on the long run to the track’s first corner to stand on the top step for the first time in Mexico.
Asked about the key to his flying start, he said: “Just stay relaxed. Just get a good launch. That was the best thing, I think I got a much better launch than the guys around.
“This is awesome here… this is unbelievable. My first win here in Mexico, a beautiful one to win, especially here in the stadium. A big thanks to all the fans.”
