Jake Paul has claimed Francis Ngannou would be an “easy fight” as he targets a return to the ring following injury.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer known as “The Problem Child”, 29, made the remarks while speaking at the Ronda Rousey v Gina Carano press conference, as he continues his recovery from a double broken jaw sustained in his defeat to Anthony Joshua.

Jake, who has spent most of his professional career competing at cruiserweight, said he would be willing to move up to heavyweight to face Francis Ngannou, 39, the former UFC champion who has transitioned into boxing in recent years. Francis fought Tyson Fury in October 2023, knocking him down before losing a split decision, and later suffered a knockout defeat to Anthony in March 2024.

Jake said: “I wouldn’t say there’s a long list of opponents.

“I think most recently Francis Ngannou was talking a lot of smack. He is an easy fight for me.

“I’ll go back up to heavyweight and knock him out like Joshua did, render him unconscious.

“He knows I lasted longer than him against Joshua. I didn’t get put out.”

The comments follow Francis’ two high-profile bouts in boxing, where he made his debut against Tyson Fury before facing Anthony Joshua.

Despite being widely viewed as inexperienced in the sport, Francis’ performance against Tyson drew attention after he scored a knockdown, though he was ultimately beaten on points.

His subsequent fight against Anthony ended in a stoppage defeat, which Jake referenced directly in his remarks.

Jake also questioned whether Francis would agree to a bout, suggesting reluctance on his opponent’s part.

He said: “He maybe wouldn’t do the fight because I think deep down he wouldn’t want to get embarrassed.”

Jake is currently recovering after undergoing surgery that required two titanium plates to be fitted following the injury sustained against Anthony.

He has resumed training and indicated his intention to continue fighting despite the setback.

The potential bout would represent a significant step up in weight for Jake, who has largely campaigned at cruiserweight during his six-year professional career, while Francis has competed at heavyweight across both mixed martial arts and boxing.
