Crystal Palace “deserved” their 2-1 victory over Fulham, manager Oliver Glasner has said.
The Eagles snatched all three points at Craven Cottage on Sunday (07.12.25) thanks to an 87th-minute header from Marc Guehi, 25, sealing a fifth away league win of the season and extending their impressive form on the road.
Eddie Nketiah, 26, opened the scoring after 20 minutes when he latched onto a precise through-ball from midfielder Adam Wharton, 21, before finishing confidently inside the far post.
Fulham responded shortly before half-time, with winger Harry Wilson, 28, bending a superb outside-of-the-boot strike beyond Dean Henderson, also 28, to level the match.
The hosts thought they had turned the game around when Emile Smith Rowe, 25, reacted quickest to a rebound off the bar, but the effort was ruled out for offside after a VAR check.
Speaking to BBC Match of the Day, Palace manager Glasner said: “For me, it was a huge performance.
“I think we were lucky when the goal was disallowed, but I felt like it was more likely we would win the game. It’s really amazing to win and a credit to the players. The spirit was there and we deserved to win.”
Glasner praised his squad’s commitment to chasing the victory rather than settling for a draw.
He said: “Winning is the most important thing to give you confidence and put you in a good mood. We did very well a few times and sometimes lost the ball.
“It is important to stay self-critical and analyse the performances. It makes me proud because the team did not want to defend the draw, we wanted to win and that’s why we got it in the end.”
Guehi’s late header marked Palace’s latest away league winner since November 2022, when Michael Olise, 23, struck in stoppage time at West Ham.
Since Glasner’s appointment in March 2024, Palace have collected 52 points away from home, a tally bettered only by Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City during that period.
Nketiah echoed his manager’s optimism and told Sky Sports: “It was a lovely pass from Adam [Wharton] and a good finish, so I am happy with my goal. I had a good first touch and I knew I was going to hopefully score and thankfully I did.
“[Playing in this Palace side] is enjoyable, we fight for each other, and we are full of confidence. The sky is the limit if we keep playing as we are.”
