Anthony Kim is proud to have shown his daughter he isn’t a “loser”.
The 40-year-old golfer – who has been sober for three years after battling drug and alcohol addiction – bagged his first professional win in 16 years last month at LIV Golf Adelaide, and it meant a lot to share his victory with wife Emily and their little girl Bella.
He told Golf Monthly magazine: “To be able to share it with Bella, even though she won’t understand it right now, and for her to be able to run on the green and see her dad isn’t a loser, was one of the most special moments of my life.
“Before she came into this world, I didn’t feel any purpose in my life.
“You can have a lot of money and success, but still feel lonely and like the world is against you.
“That’s in your own mind, because I had a lot of people rooting for me…
“But I just want Bella to know that no matter how bad your day is, if you keep fighting you never lose.
“Hopefully she takes that with her for the rest of her life.”
Anthony hopes he is a good example to others about turning their lives around.
He said: “For the people who do hear about [my story], I want to be a good example.
“I would say that I wasn’t the best person, the best partner, or the best son when I was younger. But who I am today is a completely different person.
“With God, my family and my sobriety being the key things to my life, I can go as far as I want.”
