Anthony Joshua has hit out at “dippy” Tyson Fury in a social media callout.

The former heavyweight world champion hasn’t fought since his defeat to Daniel Dubois a year ago but suggested that he is prepared to step back into the ring for a bout against the Gypsy King.

Joshua wrote on Instagram: “To my supporters, I’ll be back to lace up my boots and put on my gloves sooner than later, hopefully punching Fury’s head in and dancing round his flicker jab with ease.”

The British fighter commended his former opponent Joseph Parker for putting his WBO title shot against Oleksandr Usyk at risk to take on Fabio Wardley next month and suggested that Fury – who has often hinted at a comeback since announcing his retirement from the ring earlier this year – would never have done likewise.

Joshua wrote: “I’m proud of Joe Parker, even though he is a competitor. Real recognises real. He’s in the game to fight whoever, whenever and that’s the DNA of a real general. Unlike his dippy mate Tyson Fury.

“I would [discredit] his career/record in minutes but I’ll leave that for a potential Gloves Are Off if he ever comes back and fights Big Femi [Joshua].”

The boxer added: “Fabio Wardley, respect to you as well. Bro was working in recruitment helping your dad get a job [a couple of] years ago.

“Let that be a testament to show nothing is impossible (if you can have a scrap ha, ha).”

Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn suggested that the fighter is unlikely to return to action until early 2026 after rumoured opponent Jake Paul announced a bout against Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis in November.

He told Fight Hype: “We are not going to wait until November to make our move, so it is very likely Anthony Joshua will fight in January or February against someone else.

“But Tank is Tank, who knows? They still have to make sure that the fight happens. We knew Jake would take a fight this side of the year, but it is what it is.”
