Bruno Fernandes has won the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award for the 2025-26 season.
The Manchester United captain has been honoured for a campaign in which he broke an all-time Premier League record as he registered 21 assists to help the Red Devils finish third in the Premier League and secure Champions League qualification for the first time in three years.
Fernandes, who also scored nine times during the campaign, becomes the first United player to win the award since Wayne Rooney did so in the 2009-10 season and described it as a “proud moment” to be recognised by his fellow professionals.
The Portuguese playmaker said: “It is obviously a very proud moment. They are the ones you go on the pitch against and it’s probably not easy to vote for someone you play against, so it is a very good moment.”
Meanwhile, Manchester City ace Nico O’Reilly was named PFA Young Player of the Year following an excellent season that saw him score twice in City’s Carabao Cup final win and earn a place in England’s World Cup squad.
The versatile star said: “I had a great season. I’m very proud of the season I had. I won two trophies with my club and managed to play at the World Cup with my country. I’m over the moon how it turned out.”
Elsewhere, Bunny Shaw won the women’s PFA Player of the Year award for the second time as her 21 goals helped fire Manchester City to their first Women’s Super League title for 10 years.
Arsenal forward Olivia Smith took home the women’s PFA Young Player of the Year for the second consecutive season after an excellent debut campaign for the Gunners, following her move from Liverpool last year that saw her become the first £1 million player in women’s football history.
