Erling Haaland has vowed that Manchester City will strive to “win everything” following Pep Guardiola’s departure as manager.

Guardiola said his final farewell to City supporters after a glorious 10-year spell in charge with an open-top bus parade in Manchester on Monday (25.05.26) but Haaland is determined to continue bringing success to the Etihad Stadium as the club gets set for a new era.

He said: “It has been an up-and-down season but we are going to try to keep pushing and try to fight to win the biggest trophies we can.

“That’s what we want to win and we are fighting to win everything again. It has been a pleasure to play with Bernardo (Silva) and John (Stones), and of course for Pep.

“It has been an amazing journey but we need to keep pushing and fighting even without them. Now it is time to celebrate them and they are truly legends of the club.”

Guardiola told City’s players that they must maintain their high standards following his exit and joked that he would be watching them from the Etihad’s newly opened stand named in his honour.

The Spanish manager said: “The players don’t know it, but I will be up there [in the newly renamed stand] controlling them.

“The players have a huge responsibility to continue these standards. Hopefully they fight and fight and fight. This is my home.”

Guardiola won 20 trophies – including six Premier League titles and the Champions League in 2023 – during a phenomenal spell in charge of City and says it has been a “huge honour” to lead the Premier League club.

He said: “It is an immense honour my family will have for the rest of my life.

“Over the next years, wherever in the world, if you see me in the streets or here at the Etihad Stadium, if you are a City fan, come to me.

“It has been a huge honour to represent this club. Every decision I took I thought was the best for this club. I love you so much. It has been fun.”
