England manager Thomas Tuchel has recalled Jude Bellingham for the Three Lions’ final World Cup qualifiers against Serbia and Albania.
The Read Madrid midfielder, 22, had initially been omitted from the head coach’s England squad last month following his return from a shoulder surgery, but Tuchel has confirmed Bellingham will now play for the Three Lions in their upcoming World Cup qualifiers later this month.
Phil Foden, 25, has also been selected for England, with his last inernational appearance coming in March against Latvia.
However, both Jack Grealish, 30, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, 27, have still not been selected by Tuchel.
Tuchel has said he selected Bellingham and Foden due to their recent strong performances for Real Madrid and Manchester City, respectivey, and pointed to Foden’s incredible two goals he scored against Dortmund in The Citizens’ UEFA Champions League on Wednesday (05.11.25).
Speaking at a media conference, Tuchel said: “We are delighted that they are back. I think the contributions to their clubs lately was immense.
“They play regularly, of course, they play a big part and a big role in lots of Real and City matches lately. They score regularly – decisive goals.
“We are delighted they are in shape and in form and back with us. Jude comes back as a number 10. I think that’s his best position, and I think one of his key strengths is to score from this position and he has the ability to arrive and score goals that a number nine would.
“He scores one-touch tap-ins from outside of the six-yard box, which is very unusual.”
As for Foden, Tuchel said: “I think Phil, the way he played in for Dortmund, I see was the strongest.
“I think he is close to the opponents’ box as often [as possible]. I think he’s a mix between a [number] nine and 10.
“For me, Phil scores more from the 18-yard box, where he scored against Dortmund. I think the main thing with Phil is that he plays a role in the central part of the pitch. I don’t see him as a winger at the moment. He should have a central role. I think that plays to his strengths the most.
“He will contribute as a nine-and-a-half position – very fluid, but in the position of the pitch that will be close to the box, and will [enable him] to score like he did against Dortmund.”
