West Ham are reportedly not interested in selling Lucas Paqueta in January.

The Times recently reported the 28-year-old midfielder wanted to leave the Irons in the January transfer window, but talkSPORT has now claimed West Ham are determined to keep him.

The outlet has said Paqueta has shown no interest in departing the London club at the beginning of 2026.

Recent reports suggested Paqueta wanted to leave West Ham to protect his position in Brazil’s squad for the 2026 World Cup following the Irons’ poor start to the season.

Currently, West Ham are sat in 19th place on the Premier League table with just four points.

Following these claims, Paqueta posted a cryptic picture on social media, seemingly rejecting the idea he wanted to leave West Ham in January.

In the photo, Paqueta is seen beaming with his two sons at the London Stadium while wearing the West Ham kit.

Even so, Paqueta previously said he was looking to stay at West Ham “for one more season”.

In a post on Instagram, he wrote: “It’s about choosing those who welcomed you, who never judged you, who believed in you until the very last moment, who loved you and made you feel at home.

“It’s about staying loyal not only when you had everything, but also when there was nothing … it’s not time to say goodbye yet! Let’s go together for one more season!”

Paqueta’s contract with West Ham expires in 2027.

After Paqueta was cleared of spot-fixing charges by the FA, Aston Villa submitted a late bid for the midfielder in the summer transfer window, but the deal ultimately fell through.

West Ham are said to want to retain Paqueta for as long as possible as the Irons find themselves in a battle to escape relegation.

Nuno Espirito Santo – who took over the Irons after previous manager Graham Potter was sacked last month – is hoping to reshape his squad in January, but has insisted “we must solve our own problems”.

He said: “It is us who is going to solve our problems. Us who is in the building, not us who is outside.”
