Jack Nicklaus doesn’t think Tiger Woods can still compete for Majors.
The 85-year-old sporting legend believes Tiger was one of the best golfers to ever play the game but no longer thinks he is in the right “physical state” to win tournaments.
Jack told Golf Monthly magazine: “Tiger Woods was a fantastic player, and probably as good a player as ever lived. Can he compete today?
“Unfortunately, and sadly, I don’t think so in his current physical state.”
The Golden Bear loves to watch Scottie Scheffler on the green.
He said: “I think the best player on tour right now is Scottie Scheffler.
“I just like the way he plays, because he manages his game so well. He doesn’t waste strokes.
“He’s very solid all the time, every place he goes and at what he does. And he does it with such grace.
“Scottie doesn’t do anything that looks like it’s incredibly spectacular or outstanding – other than winning a lot. But his game is just so solid.”
Jack won 18 Majors in his glittering career but thinks he could have won more.
He said: “I’m sure I probably could have won more Majors. We all think we could have won more than we did.
“But my record is, well, I think it’s pretty good, pretty solid.
“I played a lot of good golf.
“I lost some tournaments that I probably shouldn’t have lost. But maybe I won a couple that I probably shouldn’t have. So I think it evens out.”
